Before Amplified Industries

Our customer is an independent oil & gas operator focused on operating shallow oil production. Reduced headcount due to the COVID-19 downturn created difficulty with re-scaling and reactivating idle assets, concurrent with working to improve the resiliency and efficiency of their operations.

With upwards of 1,000 assets across both Texas and Louisiana, as well as relatively low per-well oil production, cost as well as ease of scale & use are key factors in their ability to adopt any new solutions. Given the lack of existing instrumentation coupled with difficult circumstances leading up to our deployment, there were countless underlying undetected issues found in the field.

Solution

Amplified Industries deployed both its well package and tank monitoring system across selected leases. Each system takes less than 30 minutes to install and includes everything required to instrument an asset with no existing monitoring or telecom/SCADA equipment.

In each system, we are able to detect, diagnose, optimize & control around downhole conditions at the wellhead and provide extremely high resolution tank data with predictive fillage at the production facilities.

By combining both sets of data, our system is able to do even more: powerful full-field automation and monitoring including automatic emergency shut-off for over-fill & SWD/transfer pump failures, leak, overpressure, and weather conditions. Additional features include automated production allocation, alerts with ticket management, and more.

Users are able to set up, manage, and control their full operations from either our easy-to-use web-based dashboard or mobile application.

Impact

In our first three months on the field, our system detected that over 90% of wells were either experiencing mechanical issues or operating sub-optimally.

Through active control optimization alone, we were able to improve overall production by more than 15% while also reducing runtime by upwards of 20% across the field, resulting in a 25% decrease in normalized LOE per barrel produced. Additionally, the leadtime for failure detection has been cut from upwards of 4+ days on average to near instant from our detection system.

We prevented more than 7,500 gallons of liquids from being spilled or leaked with our automated shut-off protocols in those first three months. Annualized spill events have been cut from 20+ to effectively zero across our asset base.

Most importantly, our system has allowed the company to revitalize their operations with limited headcount, going from 50 wells per field technician to nearly 100 per technician, all while improving both their quality of life and reliability.
